What to Do When You Feel Stuck With Your Blog

Whether you have started your business yet or not, you may feel stuck.

You might know what to do but just feel hesitant, or you may feel clueless so you keep pushing tasks back on your calendar. Or telling yourself that you’ll start next month.

Feeling stuck with your blog is normal. Here are some reasons why you are stuck and how you can get unstuck and move on with what decisions to make with your blog when it feels hard.

You start to think of all these things that hold you back from taking action.

Maybe you are afraid to put yourself out there…

Maybe you are confused with what to do first…

Maybe you just don’t feel confident in yourself...

I’ve had all of those same thoughts (and I still do!).

A lot of times we hold ourselves back because we are afraid of what is going to happen because it’s something new or unfamiliar.

I read this quote a couple of months ago and it really made me stop and think about how I could change my perspective and behavior when I felt stuck.

“The guy who takes a chance, who walks the line between known and unknown, who is unafraid of failure, will succeed.” - Gordon Parks

Our fear of failure holds us back from taking action and leaves us in a place of feeling stuck or unsure of what to do.

I know it’s not the easiest thing to do, but if you commit to change within yourself you can slowly overcome your limiting beliefs or fear of failure.

This change means accepting that failure is an option. ⠀

I know that's an unpopular opinion, but when you can accept the possibility of failure then you can push through your comfort zone and get past your fear of the unknown. ⠀

After reading that quote I took some time to really dig deep into all the things that I kept pushing down on my to-do list.

When I was able to accept the possibility of failure and understand that it would be okay to fail, I was able to push through the things that were holding me back.

In doing this, I was able to see clearly the actions I needed to take to get unstuck.

Once you can accept that it’s okay to fail you can keep moving forward. If you are feeling stuck right now, try the 3 tips below.

3 Things to Do When You Feel Stuck With Your Blog

#1 - What’s the MOST important thing you need to work on?

You may feel stuck because you are unsure what decision to make or what project to work on. It’s okay.

Look at your to-do list and decide what is the most important, or what will have the biggest impact. Starting with one task or one project at a time will help you to keep moving forward.

A lot of times we feel stuck because we get overwhelmed with the number of tasks on our to-do list or making the decision of what is the most urgent.

#2 - Are you planning in advance?

If you sit down at your computer and you find yourself wasting hours figuring out what you should be working on you NEED to set aside time to plan.

You don’t have to plan an entire year, but I do recommend that you at least plan out your month.

Not only will this help to eliminate wasting hours on busywork, but it will help keep you moving in your business because you’ll know what to work each day.

Oftentimes, we feel stuck because we have decision fatigue or get caught up in trying all kind of different marketing strategies.

Mark a day off in your calendar to just plan the next few weeks.

#3 - Do you simplify your projects?

After you have completed the first two steps, I want you to break down your projects into tasks and then put those tasks onto your daily calendar.

This will help you to stay focused on the things that need to get done each day and keep your momentum going.

Take it one step at a time.

I know it will be scary to put yourself out there and you may be unsure what your first step should be, but understanding that taking action even when it feels uncomfortable will help to move you closer and close to success.
